Robert (age 40) grew up in North Dakota, met Maria in Washington, and they lived in for Minnesota for 11 years before coming to Syracuse.
They moved their family to CNY for Robert's job which they were very excited about despite not knowing anyone here. He came out here in March of this year and Maria with the kids followed in May. Robert began experiencing debilitating headaches and after a few tests was given the diagnosis of a malignant primary brain tumor... the family had only been here in Syracuse for two weeks. He immediately had surgery. What followed was an intraoperative stroke.
Robert was hospitalized for 11 weeks relearning how to talk, eat, and walk. Since May their lives have been a whirlwind. Maria is the center of this family not only advocating for her husband but by maintaining the lives of their 3 adorable children (ages 5, 9, and 12). Trying to keep things as "normal" as possible while assimilating them to new schools and new friends, she's doing a great job. We instantly fell in love with these kids, they are absolutely wonderful and so much fun. After multiple doctors with differing opinions, they needed more definitive answers.
