The Molly Project is for women fighting terminal illness and that is whether they are themselves battling a disease or fighting for someone else as a caregiver. We can recognize that it is exhausting fighting that battle. It is even just a little bit more heartbreaking when you are fighting for your child.
We were introduced to Dawn, a passionate and devoted mother fighting for her son Jameson (JJ). Jameson Joseph was born on April 21st, 2013 at 34 weeks weighing 4 lbs, 9 oz and 17 1/4 inches long. JJ was born with limited brain tissue, no dilation of pupils with concern of loss of vision and duodenal atresia(parts of the stomach not attached). A tube was inserted in his nose to drain stomach fluid out and he was put on oxygen. Jameson underwent x-rays, ultrasound, contrast studies and an MRI. His stomach was the main concern because he was not able to eat. He went into surgery on April 25th to fix the stomach issues where they found his bowels were twisted, narrow and there was very little blood flow. The surgeon did his best to put everything in the correct spots and hoped that with time his little body would heal and begin working.
We met JJ while he was at Golisano’s Children’s hospital. This little 5 month old has had such an impact on his community that a Facebook page Jameson’s Army was established. Meeting Dawn and her family made a lasting impression on us. She fought so hard for his health and in the end fought so hard for his comfort. JJ passed away this past weekend. His tiny but mighty soul will live on through random acts of kindness that the family is requesting be fulfilled in his name.
